The last century has seen the creation on many theoretical perspectives or styles of counselling and psychotherapy. These include the main styles of :
Person Centred Therapy (PCT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
and the newer :
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT)
They all have strengths and weaknesses.
Most therapists have trained in one style, which means that you and your problems will have to fit their one size fits all spanner!
If you make a start and that style doesn’t suit you, then you have to start a fresh with another counsellor!
I have trained in a variety of styles, including the above mentioned main and newer styles of counselling and psychotherapy, which allows a flexible approach. I have found over my years of experience that as people are individuals they respond to different approaches, as do different issues.
